From Cris Walker our CITEA legislative advocate. Please forward to as many teachers in the field of Industrial Arts and Techology Education. The attached letter is an example of CITEA at work in Sacramento. Although CITEA's influence is specifically mentioned, Chris has been very active in the formulation of the letter and other legislation trying to ensure that our students have the opportunities necessary to earn a living with meaningful employment. College and Industrial Arts training should not be, as the letter states, mutually exclusive. Nor should skills education be forced to play "second fiddle." Jim Howlett Subject: CTE -- Letter to CPR CTE Coalition and Friends: Please see attached a copy of a letter which was delivered to the Governor's office yesterday. I am told that it will be included in the CPR Commissioners binders for tomorrow's hearing in Los Angeles on the education reform recommendations. Thank you to all who contributed to this effort. The result is an extremely powerful and united statement by employer groups and teacher organizations in support of CPR's findings related to the need for a revitalized career and technical education system in our public schools. --CW
