MTTA

Manufacturing Technology Teachers Association – Manufacturing, Welding, Machining, Robotics

The Manufacturing Technology Teachers Association (MTTA) exists to promote the education, training and support of teachers involved in machining, foundry, drafting and welding instruction within the public school system in California.

This organization acts as a liaison between industry and the educational system in matters relating to manufacturing education and training.

The MTTA was instrumental in raising the conscience of teachers, politicians and the California Department of Education when the first signs of a major vocational teacher shortage appeared in the late 1980s. During the decline of voc ed funding and the rush to academic testing, it was the MTTA that managed to convince the CITEA that a “summit” on voc ed was needed with the then Superintendent of Public Instruction for California, Delaine Eastin.

Today, the MTTA is working closely with the CDTC drafting teachers on conferences and training sessions that benefit school programs throughout California.
