The "Shop Safety" website is designed to provide a variety of safety training materials for all teachers. These materials have been collected from teachers all around the State of California. Hopefully, the materials provided herein represent the common practices and high quality curriculum used to address the safety needs of shop programs.

Neither the authors of this website, nor of the documents contained herein, maintain any responsibility for the use or misuse of shop equipment or these documents. To the best of our knowledge the information contained in these documents is accurate. Please review and assess these documents for yourself before use. Working with tools can be dangerous, and it is the operator's responsibility to vigilantly check for safety concerns. Many of the documents have been begged and borrowed from other sources. Please take a moment to look at these sources (if available) for updated information.

I also strongly recommend creating a set of Health and Safety Procedures (HSEP). These procedures should discuss proper practices to be enforced and training procedures. I also recommend that the teacher gets the HSEP approved by the school safety committee and the site council. The idea is to limit and spread liability in the case of an unfortunate event.
