“I became a pimple on a very flat plane — easy to spot.” That’s how John describes his role in California’s career and technical education community, and it couldn’t be more fitting. Over decades of service, he became a visible and vital presence— connecting educators, building programs, and driving progress across the state.

Tom Post has spent over 30 years teaching Industrial Arts in Merced County, Central California, with a focus on woodworking, mechanical drafting, and architectural drafting. After earning his credential from Fresno State University, Tom became deeply involved in professional organizations, joining the California Industrial and Technology Education Association (CITEA) in his final year of college and becoming a SKILLSUSA advisor in his first year of teaching.

Gracious and generous mentors make a difference. 2005 was the second year Pioneer Valley High School was open and it was my first year teaching.

During my 35 year teaching career, I taught Woodshop, Drafting & Design, Small Engines, Technology Explorations, Manufacturing, and Guitar Construction.
